" Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell
together in unity!" Psalms 133:1 KJV
One of the greatest privileges I have, as the Rector of St. Matthew's
is that of being the parish's clergy representative to the meetings
of our diocese and province. This September we have two such events.
We have the meeting of our diocese's synod and the meeting of our
provincial synod which I will attend during the second week of that
month.
Synods offer an opportunity for all the parishes and missions
of the province and diocese to get together and hear what is going
on in each other's place of worship. It is a time to learn from
each other and to exchange ideas on how our parishes can grow and
become more effective witnesses for Christ. It is also a time where
we can worship together and seek God's will for ourselves corporately
as a part of God's one, holy and apostolic church.
One of the things I like about our diocese and province is that
we are at peace with one another and that we enjoy the fruits of
unity. We have a great Bishop and a family of Anglican believers
that truly love each other and seek each other's highest good as
we seek to serve and worship God. It is this family atmosphere free
of sinful strife that allows us get about our Father's business
and be productive members of the body of Christ.
I would like to invite and encourage all of you to attend one
of our synods some time when your schedule and finances permit it.
You will not be disappointed by the experience.
Father Bill
