MEET THE USHERS
Between June and December of last year, we featured a short biographical
sketch of each member of the Usher Team at St. Matthew's. Inadvertently,
two members of the Team were omitted and we want to rectify that
situation now.
Introducing Jeff Kleinotas: Jeff resides in Valrico and works at
his family's business, Car Wash on the Green. He was born in 1978
in Nashua, New Hampshire to Carole and Allen Kleinotas, who are
long-time members of our parish. The Kleinotas family moved to Florida
in 1980. They attended St. Cecilia's Episcopal Church in Tampa for
ten years before finding their way to the Continuing Anglican parish
of Church of the Advent which eventually became St.Matthew's Parish
in Riverview. Jeff served as an altar boy at St. Cecilia's for ten
years. He has ushered at St. Matthew's since 1997.
Jeff is active in sports, particularly softball. He is an active
member of the parish, supporting the many social and fund raising
events. He expresses his feelings about the parish in terms of "its
wonderful people" and he particularly loves listening to "our beautiful
choir."
Introducing Robert Plummer: Bob Plummer holds the title of Honorary
Usher having served in that position since the early days of the
parish when it was located in Tampa. It has only been in the past
two years that his health has prevented his continuing as a regular
member of the Usher Team.
Bob and his wife Elizabeth, known to all as Beth, spent 38 happy
years together before she passed away on November 1, 2001.
Bob was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He served in the Army Air
Force during WWII, and was in the South Pacific zone for eight months
of that time. After the war, Bob was employed in the sales field
in the Washington, D. C. area. When he retired, he and Beth moved
to Florida and took up residency in Sun City Center. Four years
later they moved to University Village in Tampa where Bob still
lives.
One of Bob's hobbies was baking, and he supplied the most delicious
sweets for many of our coffee hours, as well as other special events.
Although his health now precludes his taking an active role at St.
Matthew's, Bob still delights in attending church services. Since
he can no longer drive, he accepts with deep gratitude the kindness
of those members of the parish who enable him to come to church
as often as he can.
Thursday, May 6, has been designated as a National
Day of Prayer, by presidential proclamation. This year's theme is
"Let Freedom Ring" and we are asked to pray for our nation, our
troops, and for persecuted Christians around the world.
