THANKS: are
extended to several members of the parish for unusual service
—To Junior
Warden
Jim Belland who took charge when learning of the recent flooding
of the main church building, and to all those parishioners who,
with
Jim, worked tirelessly to minimize the water damage caused by
a malfunctioning drinking fountain in the narthex. Thanks to their
efforts we were
able to have our beautiful Christmas services without disruption. To parishioners Jim and Kitty Spohn who have placed ads and news stories about
St. Matthew's in community newspapers serving the areas south
of Brandon. Their initiative and generosity have given our parish
much-needed
publicity at a most opportune time. To parishioners Pam and Ken
McDonough,
who have already brought many of their Sun City Center church
friends to St. Matthew's, and who continue to spread the good
news about
our parish with the objective of bringing in more new members.
To Alice
Ashby who this month leaves her position as Directress of the
Altar Guild, a responsibility that she has held for 7 consecutive
years,
five at our present location and two years at Church of the Advent
in Tampa. Alice is succeeded by Debra Middleton.
NOTES FROM ST. ANNE'S GUILD
At the December meeting of St. Anne's Guild, the members present
chose new officers for the Year 2004. Unanimously elected were: Pamela
McDonough, President; Kitty Spohn, Vice President; Colleen Masters,
Secretary, and Debra Middleton, Treasurer. Outgoing officers Debra
Middleton and Ann Dearnley along with Fund Raising Chairman Judy
McKay, received the thanks of all for their hard work and achievements
in 2003. Pam has a background in marketing and salesmanship and has
displayed great enthusiasm and innovative thinking during the short
time she has been with us. We're looking forward to many new activities
and continued growth under her leadership. St. Anne's Guild meets
the first Saturday of every month at 10:00 a.m. All women of the
parish are automatically members of the Guild - we invite you to
come to the meetings for great fellowship and the opportunity to
serve our parish in the way that suits you best.
A NOTE FROM ST. MICHAEL'S
To all men in the parish. Come join us in a meeting of
St. Michael's Men's Club on Saturday, January 10, at 9.a.m. The general
purpose of the meeting is to hold
an election of officers and to discuss upcoming projects. If there
are any questions you need answered in advance, please call Jim Belland
on 661-0342 or Fr. Bill at the church office, 663-0334.
